The holidays are over and it’s high time to get ready for job-hunting.
Some of you may think of applying to federal government agencies as it provides certain guarantee that you’ll be comfortably off. But applying to such agency may turn out to be extremely problematic.
Your CV Should Meet Certain Requirements as for the Form and Information it Contains
Applying for a position in government agency you should bear in mind the following:
First of all, there should be an open vacancy announcement. In other case you’ll get the raw end of the stick. You can find it at the official website, using any of the search systems. The major difference between the government agencies and private institutions lies in the fact that the former won’t allow you to send your CV to every agency, for any vacancy available or for the vacancy announcement that is closed. Moreover, you should answer the demands of the position. The mere desire to progress is not will not impress the employer as the agencies value professional figures in their sphere.
Secondly, the form of your CV should fit in that very agency you are interested in. Some agencies accept free-form CV; in the others you‘ll have to fill in an online form. In any case, each agency makes certain demands and if you want to succeed you need to meet them; if not, your CV won’t be taken into consideration.
The next point is the information your CV contains. CV for the government agency should contain more information that that for the private institution, it should state supervisors’ names, your contacts and what not. So be sure to include all the necessary data in your CV.
Also be prepared for KSA (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities) questions and other evaluation questions, which require detailed answers. If there’s such a demand to reckon them in your CV, and you skip the questions, don’t be surprised at the refusal.
Finally, while thinking over and writing your CV, don’t forget to meet the guideline of every agency, otherwise you won’t be employed.
Sometimes you may feel discouraged by such strict requirements, but in any case you shouldn’t surrender, just be persistent. If you try your best to make the federal CV successful, but fail, resort for help to the skilled CV writer, who’s a dab hand at composing such papers.
